I am a current LSU Mechanical Engineering student set to graduate in 2027. Over the summer of 2024, I completed an internship that led to my starting this company.

During this internship, I took charge of a quality control line responsible for 97 unique products for many marine industry leaders, including Suzuki, Gatortail, Mercury, and Honda (not associated with ccs).

Having come to understand the QC process, I began to observe the technicians performing checks using calipers to measure the dimensions of various components against proprietary reference tables of accepted values.

For some technicians, this process could take several minutes per product. When over 1,000,000 of these products are in service, that small inefficiency compounds into years of lost time.

My solution was to implement a set of gauges I designed for technicians. This changed step in the process, bringing the check time from minutes to seconds. This change was then expanded to other plants in Mexico and China, saving the company 1200 man-hours a year since implementation.

It was an obvious improvement to me, but all it took was a fresh set of eyes looking to improve a system.

my story:

Pitch:

With CCS you can expect me to come out to your site and I will learn and observe your processes with a fresh set of eyes until I am able to find a way to improve efficiency and save the company money. If I am not able to find any improvements then there is no charge, I would simply get the experience of seeing and learning more about engineering and industry. If I am able to find an improvement then it would be at the choice of the company to accept it and implement it themselves or I could do it for them. For this circumstance I will negotiate a percentage of the annual projected savings from my change to be my compensation. Additionally if any changes are made after my initial observations I can always be called back to take another look.

The appeal to using me versus an employee: Since I am not being paid before I find something to improve an employee doesn’t have to waste their paid time or delay their own responsibilities to hunt for an improvement. Additionally once I find one my only job would be working on the solution as opposed to an employee who would still have their responsibilities to balance.
